History

Units in Japanese

The Japanese units are a nice combination of elegance, finesse, and brute strength. Their infantry are second to none, but they are somewhat expensive. Also, they lack in the reconnaissance department.

Worker: Basic worker unit. Harvests resources and builds Japanese buildings. Also appears to be balding.

Peasant: The Peasants are simple folk who provide the Japanese war machine with greatly needed food. In times of trouble, they can be quickly trained into Ashigarus or Arquebusers.

Melee Units

Ashigaru Spearman: The Ashigaru Spearman is Japan's standard melee soldier. Due to his glaive, he is able to outrange other equivalent units, this gives him the ability to stab and slice from a distance.

Swordsman: The Swordman is the kind of man who's seen many wars and no longer minds getting his hands dirty when he needs to. He fights valiantly for his nation, often eviscerating his opponents with his trusty katana. Not many men can fight a veteran swordman and live to tell the tale.

Armoured Samurai: Hand trained by the Shogun himself, the Armoured Samurai are his most trusted soldiers. They are the elite of the elite, the cream of the crop, and so on and so forth. They are so important to the Shogun that only 3 can be brought on the battlefield. When you absolutely need everything to die, you call on the Armoured Samurai.

Ranged Units

Archer: The archer is Japan's standard range infantry. His longbow provides great power to his shots, creating a rather cost effective unit.

Arquebuser: The Japanese were rather smart, smart enough to know that gunpowder is far more powerful than puny arrows. But, to prevent such great power from entering into the hands of the enemy, gunpowder is only granted to leaders who have survived long enough to establish a nice foothold in enemy territory. This is the Arquebuser, a fearless man who wields a very powerful firearm. His bullets are better against infantry than buildings.
