Welcome to My Talk Page[edit]

Welcome to my talkpage, feel free to leave any messages here, and be sure to sign your post with ~~~~ (this adds your name and post time, as well as a signature if you have one). Thanks, Template:Signatures/Hofmic 00:51, February 10, 2011 (UTC)

PS: Anyone who posts here saying "first" will make me copy and paste a thousand lines of code.

The wiki provides an interface for adding images specifically for user profiles. Since images specifically for user profiles are prohibited, this feature should probably be turned off as to reduce confusion as well as you from having to delete user's uploaded images.

Also, how do you add a profile image via a link?
Conzar 07:08, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

dear Hofmic, dont delete stuff that isnt properly formatted, either fix it so it looks good or leave it, the idiea of a wiki is to CONTRIBRUTE!, not delete thanks
Coldfusionstorm 20:25, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

I dont care what you think, there were placeholders not because content were needing, but because i were TOO BUSY to add anymore, i have content the problem is TIME, so before you decide to walk in and ruin other peoples stuff i suggest you try being a little more conservative.

main-page[edit]

hi Hofmic,

i made some changes which need some changes on the main-page:

  • "Installing Glest" is now a redirect to "getting glest" so you can delete the link in the general-block
  • in the general-block there a 2 links to Configuration, pls delete one
  • could you bring the general-block in proper order, like: getting glest, configuration, getting started, troubleshooting, helping glest (in the rest inbetween as it fits ;)

also the links to GAE and MG should be more prominent on the main-page, at least they should be 1st in the developement-block, better in the general-block.

thx olaus

hi
my idea of ordering was that's for a newbie who 1st want's to read what glest is at all (about glest), then wan't to install it (installing glest) -> getting started -> configuration -> troubleshooting, ...
arguing by numbers i would put MG above GAE: http://sourceforge.net/search/?q=glest, anyway in the left column. people read multiple columns top->bottom, not left->right.

Double Redirects[edit]

Oops, I forgot that time. Thanks for fixing it! I usually remember to fix it though ;)

Background Image[edit]

Omega, the background image you uploaded is now shown while editing. Now this isn't too bad, but the only thing is that it is a BIT hard ot see while editing...Is this how it is supposed to be? Ultifd 05:40, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

OK it is fine now. Nah, the rich text editor is actually pretty useful at times. Maybe just not for pros ;) Also, yes I understand all of those things, I was just in a hurry to reply because I was/am doing some major changes to the tilesets list page... I've got common sense, after all ;)

Linking compile info[edit]

Hi Hofmic. The reason I linked is because data that isn't automatically duplicated will eventually become inconsistent no matter how careful we are. Whether easy or hard it is still extra work that we don't need to worry about with one location. The trac wiki is closer to the code so I think that is a better place for it. Cheers, Hailstone3 23:43, March 19, 2011 (UTC)

Keymap Page[edit]

Thanks for fixing the GAE keymap page. It looks better now. Hailstone3 08:01, April 11, 2011 (UTC)

To separate or not to separate[edit]

You've never seen the Japanese page then, I guess?

Omega, the way I do is for others so they don't have to spend as much time on the pages. Don't you understand that? They don't have that much time and I don't either.

Ultifd 00:43, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

Well, I'm sorry but I don't think I can do it either. Spending the time to create tables and upload pics takes a lot of time for me already.

Ultifd 01:19, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

Omega, the fact is that they won't do it. Even if I create the simple list they usually won't do it. Creating tables are the best way because it gives them a format and it's way faster and more convient.

Ultifd 01:26, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

Nope. One unit page doesn't equal the 10 or 20 other unit pages. And, it would waste the person who spent time to create the tables. Why ya hating on tables? Tables are basically just for basic info. Everyone else seems to be OK with them...

Ultifd 01:31, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

Omega, that's kinda the deal already. Cept no one is creating tables too.

Ultifd 01:47, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

First of of, it's not that much harder. Second of all, it's helpful to me. Try asking every single person on the glest forums, if you think it's really unneccsary or something. Zoythrus and Hagekura didn't seem to complain, so...

Ultifd 01:55, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

It's also helpful when people need to state some units are MG or GAE only. Kinda. Whenever people want to port their GAE mods for publicity, I mean.

Ultifd 01:58, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

About those unit pics[edit]

well, those unit pics that i recently added are not the ingame build pics. we're still using the ones that were "too small," because they are the perfect size for build pics.

and besides, i didnt think that a name like Raiden_pic.png would mess up Linux users that browsed this wiki....

Hi, Thank you for the recent edit of japanese faction page. Could you also fix the mod's filesize which shown in the template of the page? For now It shows that the filesize 40.6mb, but filesize of current release(v089a) of the mod is 27.3 MB. regards.Hagekura 06:45, December 11, 2011 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your reply (in January!), on my personal Talk page, to my Talk post regarding the faction template. And sorry for such a delay in my response.

Got ya!

Curse Wikia, sigh, shrug, turn on source-mode editing in preferences, live happy ever after! :D

Seriously now, thank you for the detailed yet concise answer. Understanding just how deep (and wide) the rabbit-hole is made it that much easier to decide not to stick my foot in it! And the sollution is actually not-painful at all! So thanks again. :)

RE: Ohai[edit]

It wasn't hard. You only have two wikis in your favourite wikis box. :P ~ty 14:47, April 8, 2012 (UTC)

Pssst[edit]

I fixed how you can't see the stuff in the header when editing the page. Not sure why it's the colour it is, but Wikia seem to have added some form of override for the link and text colours. Anyways, it's here if you want it. User:Cåm/Signature 00:48, April 28, 2012 (UTC)
